Recent trends everywhere in the world indicate that handicrafts are seeing modest upswings. Help us ensure that hand embroidery is amongst the crafts that are growing and strengthening! As noted in the objective about “preserving and safeguarding” traditional patterns and techniques, All One Thread knows that young people may have different tastes than their elders. Fair enough – so let us then attract more young people, including pre-adolescent and adolescent boys and girls, to embroidery. Contemporary ideas for patterns, use of colour combinations and styles can be generated and integrated into courses for children and young people Are you interested in organizing classes in a centre or school in your community, or in forming an embroidery group? Are you attracted to the idea of producing a “how-to” video for children or youth? Are you already doing something related to promoting hand embroidery with “the next generation”? Do you have experience blending contemporary designs with traditional designs? Let us know what you are doing or would like to do! |
